TIPS + Reminders (UNDER CONSTRUCTION!)

Post by WildyxNight on Mon Jan 08, 2018 1:00 am

THESE ARE NOT BY ANY MEANS RULES OR TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO! THIS IS SIMPLY SOME FUN TIPS TO REFER TO IF NEEDED! REMEMBER! YOUR POST ARE YOUR STYLE! THIS IS A WEBSITE FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY AND POST WHAT THEY'D LIKE!

o O 0 o O 0 Reminders o O 0 o O 0

Roleplaying Outside Interaction:
* * * Currently our forum has a smaller amount of users then more role-playing forums. This is something I hope to work on in the upcoming summer.

* * * As stated above we have a smaller amount of users on our website, some users on the website have more role-plays then others. Remember everyone is entitled to go to their own pace or respond to the roleplays that they like. If you notice someone has responded to your thread please give them time to get around to it or allow a break! After some time send a gentle reminder if you feel they might've forgotten!

* * * If you are someone who has many roleplays to keep up w/ and feel you need a break from specific ones, try to notify the user to let them know you need a short hiatus from the roleplay and pick it back up when appropriate!

Plot Development:
* * * When creating a roleplay, try to have a beginning, middle, and end in mind! You don't actually have to end the roleplay with the original ending but it will prevent your roleplay from dying out or getting boring. Or if you feel the ending was too soon you can always bring up the idea of a sequel!

Character Development:
* * * When beginning a roleplay try to be very descriptive to your partner about what your character looks like. You can do this by
-using reference pictures
- using reference videos for voice
- taking advantage of the character template on the website

* * * Evaluate all your role-plays, try to compare your characters and make them different. Challenge yourself to have a diversity of character personalities.
-A good way to do this is by filling out a reference sheet with personality and likes and dislikes listed. You can then view a scenario and ask yourself what reaction would make the most sense with your character?

* * * Create a forum under the character forum. This will allow you to keep track of all your characters if you have multiple role-plays in case you forget anything, you can list relations, a summary of the roleplay so far, names of minor characters you control in your roleplay.

Collaborate:

* * * If you and your partners role-play needs a temporary villain/love-rival/support character/ etc. ask a third user to temporarily join your roleplay! It's all about communication, explain to them what you want, etc, etc, and then you add a bit of surprise to your role-play and have an unbiased character. Just an idea!

Fighting Scenes

* * * Try not to 'God Mod'
"God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.
- When you are fighting another character in a role-play try to give your partner the chance to react before saying the attack was a success. Fight scenes require partners from both sides to be fair and realistic.
Bad Example:
Issac turned around mid-air, his right foot slammed right into the cheekbone of Jym and knocked him out cold.
Good Example: Issac turned around mid air, he swung his right foot around and attempted to hit Jym in the face.
The good example then allows your partner to determine if the kick should be successful or not, to which they would respond correctly.

* * * Try to think realistically to your world/roleplay
-If your characters are not equally matched try to make judgment on if your character winning a fight is realistic or not. For example, unless a bunny has magical powers it should not likely win against a dragon.
- Likewise, if that dragon is facing a powerful wizard it should not completely destroy the wizard within three moves.
